I also had noted the “Heath hate”. Have been wondering what’s going on and I think it also might be a bit of rejection going on from the listeners, the dumped boyfriend type.

I was wondering why it matters so much what our political leanings are to each other? I feel we can agree on more than we can’t and we spend a little too much time arguing over the differences and in this separating further.

One of my best friends is staunchly blue and I am progressive/left. 97% of the time we agree on day to day life, we both coach our kids sports teams, sit on school board and are generally involved in the community. We can have some pretty heated arguments but we leave having thought about the other sides point.

If Matt offers a different point of view to mine and it’s from a different colour politically why does it matter? Good ideas are just that, no point throwing the thriller album out with the Micheal Jackson water.

Yeah. What percentage of a happy life is spent thinking about other people's politics? Probably someting south of 1%. Also the Heath hate has always been out there. You can't act like an idiot as often as I do without annoying people from time to time. :)

Haha being a moron has served me well!

It never ceases to amaze me: we all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinion than our own.

Now that is a good one. Damn I should have used that one in my article.

Yeah, let this be a lesson. More time reading Marcus Aurelius, less time being a loser commie nazi.

Haha Mediations is all we need. Good shout of for it on Gladiator 2. Denzil Washington's character claims he had had a look at it.

Your show is one bright spot in a day saturated by low wattage right wingers ringing up and suggesting things like ‘trains should have to give way to cars’ (that’s a real caller by the way).

One might ask why I don’t change the station - I don’t get to choose the station in the workshop…

Haha ‘trains should have to give way to cars’ how would that work? I am actuallly laughing out loud at that suggestion from a caller. Like 100 carriage frieght trains? Physics is not on that callers side.

People who utilise the words "woke " "commie" "right wing" and others usually more often than not don't understand them fully

As a big listener of yours I see you more balanced as you are with your show Somtimes you take a point from the left or the right but I don't follow you for being either your a wise man and have an abundance of life lessons so keep up the good work matt

Il also add a man who only has six beers and dosent want to share one is a smart man

I came here because I came across the Reddit post you mentioned first.

I imagine some people are surprised by you going to Newstalk ZB, which as we all know is very right wing. People build up ideas or a profile of those in the media and perhaps some thought you were ‘on their side’ or ‘just like me’. It may be that their opinion has been shattered.

Political preference does say a lot about someone and it is an especially sensitive subject at the moment because of the divide and hate being created by the current government not to mention what’s happening worldwide.

At the end of the day when we are upset by what someone else says, we have to ask ourselves - “why?” - “why does that upset me?”.

That goes for the people who are upset by your comments/opinions and for you who are in turn offended (or maybe embarrassed) by theirs.

Thanks Matt, you're obviously a woke commie, because you work in media and they'd fire you if you weren't, but you're also a right-wing shill, because your thirst for knowledge and curious brain, leads you to question the prevailing orthodoxy, and the left in NZ has for the most part given up on critical thinking.

Love you daddy, miss hearing your voice on the M&J podcast.

Wow, what the hell is wrong with people?! I just could never go up to someone I didn’t know and have a go at them like that. That’s so weird. Or is it fair game when you’re a public figure?

Political chat can get so awkward amongst friends, I have def learnt that so I just don’t really go there & that’s fine. We can all still get along without pushing our views and any given opportunity.

I think the fact they were really steamed was a big part of it. :) Yeah politics doesnt havent to be a part of everything. It should be part of very little

Were the “what do you see?” pictures in reference to Francis Dolarhyde from Red Dragon? In any case very funny. Well written as always. Fuck the haters! Bless
